존 웨슬리의 뉴 캐슬(New Castle), 오펀하우스(Orphan House Trust)

뉴 캐슬은 영국 북부에 위치한 석탄 생산 중심지이다. 존 웨슬리 당시 뉴 캐슬은 강을 중심으로 무역을 하며 거친 노동자들의 싸움이 빈번했던 소외 계층이 살던 곳이다. 자연 존 웨슬리는 가난한 광산 노동자들과 소외 계층을 향해 선교할 수 밖에 없었다. 길거리에서 설교하며 오펀 하우스를 만들어 고아나 가난한자들을 돌보아 주었다.

존 웨슬리는 말을 타고 1742년 이곳을 방문하여 키사이드에서 사역 하였다.
