삼미신(The Three Graces, Charites)

삼미신은 그라케스(Graces) 라고 하는데 인간에게 모든 아름다움을 가져다 주는 여신들로 제우스와 에우리노메의 딸들이다. 로마식으로는 채리티스(Charites) 라고 한다. 채리티스는 제우스의 딸들이며  '미', '우아', '은혜'가 의인화된 여신들이다.대부분의 전통은 로마의 시인 헤시오도스가 분류한 삼분법에 따라 아글라이아(광휘), 에우프로쉬네(환희), 탈리아(축제)라 불리는 세 명의 여신으로 분류한 것에 따른다. 한편 호메로스는 이들 중 막내를 파시테이아(미덕)라 명명하였다. 이들은 주로 다른 신들과 함께 올림포스 산에서 살고 있는 것으로 묘사되며, 사랑의 여신 아프로디테와 그녀의 아들 에로스의 각별한 시종이었다. 채리티스는 여러 신화 속에서 주인공으로서의 역할은 별로 없는 편이나, 즐거움이 요구되는 제전 등에서 분위기를 밝게 만들기 때문에 결혼식 또는 여타의 축제들에 자주 등장한다. 이러한 점 때문에 채리티스는 무사이 여신들과 마찬가지로 예술의 수호자로서 아폴론의 역할을 함께 하는 것으로 생각한다.
