코라 성당, 카리예 박물관(Church of the Holy Savior Of Chora / Kariye Museum)

원래의 성당은 4세기 콘스탄틴 대제가 성벽 외부의 초라(chora)에 지었으나 558년의 대지진에 완전히 파괴된 직후 같은 자리에 이 성당이 세워졌다. 오늘날 우리가 보는 성당의 원형은 11세기 후반에 세워진 것이다. 이후 Theodore Metochites에 의해 13세기에 대대적인 층축이 이루어 졌고 내부의 모자이크는 대략 1320년에 완성되었다. 413년 데오도시우스 2세는 교회 주위에 성을 쌓았는데 1550년까지 교회는 성벽의 외부에 있었다. 이 성당은 내부의 천정과 벽이 성서를 내용으로 하는 모자이크 및 프레스코 벽화로 장식되어 있는 것으로 유명하다.
